Fermentation Fun: Making Kraut to Benefit your Health

Discover the health benefits of eating probiotic rich fermented foods and enjoy a hands-on workshop on how to make your own sauerkraut.
BCFA and the Bucks Chapter of Buy Fresh Buy Local® present an educational talk and workshop on fermented foods by Kristann Heinz, MD, RD and Falecia Wasicko, RN, LMT ofRed Hill Medical, on Wednesday, September 7, 7-9pm, at Plumsteadville Grange, 5901 Old Easton Rd, Plumsteadville 18949.

Donations of $5-$12 encouraged. 
Attendees will make kraut with a combination of cabbage and carrots, ginger, garlic, and/or other seasonal vegetables. This method is vegan and uses salt to promote the growth of the good bacteria, lactobacilli.

You will leave the workshop with a healthy, sour, and crunchy kraut that will last in the fridge for a few months. Please bring a large sharp cutting knife, cutting-board, large bowl, and a kitchen cloth.
Kristann Heinz, MD, RD is a Medical Doctor, Medical Acupuncturist, Registered Dietician, and Licensed Nutritionist. Dr. Heinz is dedicated to the understanding that the basis for wellness and healing rests in foundation of nutrition, physical movement, and emotional health.
Falecia Wasicko, RN, LMT has been in the health profession for over fifteen years. Falecia is a registered nurse and licensed massage therapist.  She is a member of the Holistic Nurses Association and is currently working towards her Nurse Coaching Certification. Currently she offers massage therapy and provides individual nurse education sessions to help patients understand and implement their treatment programs.
