Help us Continue our Mission

Dear Supporter,

2.pngWe are proud to have completed our 11th year as an organization and our first year as the umbrella organization for both the Wrightstown Farmers Market and Doylestown Farmers Market. We believe it should be everyone’s right to have access to and be able to feed themselves, their families and communities abundant locally-grown healthy food. With your continued support, Bucks County Foodshed Alliance is able to help make that belief a reality.

That is why I have joined the board and team of volunteers at Bucks County Foodshed Alliance to work toward this important objectiveto build a resilient local food system through education and collaboration. It is why we present farm tours, films, speakers, and culinary demonstrations; why we oversee the county's beloved year-round Wrightstown Farmers Market; why we happily accepted responsibility of the Doylestown Farmers Market after a 40+ year history; why we maintain a lively and informative website at, including our E-Guide, and Bucks Buy Fresh Buy Local®.

It is why I am asking you to contribute whatever you can afford to the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance Annual Appeal and Supporting Membership Drive.

Our goal for 2018 is to raise $20,000; an ambitious goal to allow us to improve our markets, increase our education and outreach programs, and help farmers. Will you please help us achieve our objective and ensure that BCFA can continue to be a force for great local food?

This year, our annual Foodshed 5k “Run For Our Farms” fundraiser drew runners and walkers of all ages, enabling them to support our cause while enjoying the beautiful farm campus of Delaware Valley University. We added Hershberger Heritage Farm and Aro Hill Farm to the long list of working farms we have featured in our Summer Farm Tour Series. Our hands-on workshop gave participants an opportunity to learn the benefits of and how to make fermented drinks, like kombucha. Our nutrition program provided basic information about healthy fats, which fats to eat, and why,  and our well-attended “Food and Social Justice” forum brought together experts on the issues of food waste and food inequality, to help ensure that all benefit from a most just and sustainable food system.

We have continued to partner with outstanding groups and organizations, from Delaware Valley University and area businesses, including the Doylestown Food Market, to Penn State Extension to educate and advocate for our consumer constituents and for those who grow, prepare, market, and “influence” what reaches our tables.

While the entire Board and team of volunteers at BCFA contribute their expertise, time, and passion to this cause, we do have tangible and administrative expenses (above what our Run can fund) to which we turn to you, our contributors.

Our membership structure is a supporting annual membership model at an annual flat rate of $30 per person, fully tax-deductible. Please join or renew today as a member of the BCFA and consider adding a tax-deductible gift of any amount toward our Annual Appeal so we can continue our mission.

You can join, renew, and donate securely through PayPal on our website, or by mail.

The entire constituent population of farmers, consumers, residents, the land and the entire Bucks County food ecosystem, and we at BCFA, thank you for your support of this essential cause.

7.pngLocally yours,

Shari K. Rossmann
President, Board of Directors
