Join us August 5 for final 2015 Summer Farm Evening at Tinicum CSA

The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, Bucks County chapter of Buy Fresh Buy Local® and Doylestown Food Co-op announce the final event in the 2015 series of popular farm evenings that introduce consumers to the local small-scale producers who put the freshest foods onto our tables via direct sales, community-supported agriculture operations (CSAs), farmers’ markets, farm stands and other venues.

The 2015 series closes Wednesday, August 5, with a visit to Tinicum CSA, 1073 River Road in Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania 18920. While the tour is free, donations to offset the cost of BCFA’s programs are encouraged.

Tinicum CSA offers weekly seasonal shares of pesticide-free vegetables through the “community supported agriculture” model. Farm partners John Crooke and Stefan Streit use sustainable methods to farm 6 acres of fertile Bucks County bottomland soil near the Delaware River, where they raise more than 40 pesticide-free vegetables that they distribute as shares to CSA members throughout the season.

John and Stefan are devoted to sharing with the community the benefits of their passion for growing with sustainable practices to build the soil, increase yields and provide the best produce possible. To learn more:

The evening’s pot luck meal runs from 6:00 to 7:00pm, with the tour to follow. Visitors are expected to bring a dish to share with others and their family’s own eating equipment, beverages and seating, and they should expect to carry out their own trash. This educational and entertaining event is appropriate for school-aged children who are under an adult’s careful supervision.

Any cancellations due to severe weather will be posted on the BCFA website and Facebook page. For more information: 215.621.8967 or

The series runs annually May through August. Earlier this season BCFA visited Snipes Farm and Education Center in Morrisville and Bucks County Apiaries at Freedom Farm in Pipersville.
