Lacking for Space? Try Container Gardening

by Jackie Edwards

Not everyone in Bucks County is blessed with a large enough garden or yard to grow vegetables or herbs. It can seem like a hopeless situation, but it’s not. Container gardening offers people with all kinds of properties - even balconies in an apartment block, the chance to grow a wide variety of plants and flowers. Furthermore, each container can become its own microcosm with its own soil type and composition, which means you can grow a wider variety than is possible in the ground.

Simply put, container gardening is the use of pots, vessels, planters, and other types of containers as a means for growing plants. The upside is you get to plant a wider number of plants and you have more control over them, but on the downside you cannot grow anything with a large root system.

Now you have many options ranging from the types of containers you use to the kinds of plants you wish to grow. Remember, however, that your plants still need an adequate amount of sunlight, water, and food, and if planted in a container outside they are still subject to natural conditions.
