Promised Land Natural Farm kicks off summer farm tours

For those of you coming to the farm tour tonight, the address for Promised Land Natural Farm is 597A Long Acre Lane, Yardley 19067. If that doesn't show up on your GPS device, try using Morrisville instead of Yardley! Can't wait to see you all there.

BCFA and BFBL® Bucks are again hosting a series of farm evenings that introduce consumers to the local small-scale producers who put the freshest foods onto our tables via direct sales, community-supported agriculture operations (CSAs), farmers’ markets, farm stands and other venues.

The 2014 three-tour series opens Wednesday, June 4 with a visit to Promised Land Natural Farm in Yardley. First-generation farmers Paul and Jackie Hansen and their adult children raise a wide variety of produce from early spring to late fall on their three-acre parcel in Lower Makefield. Their produce, grown with no chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides or pesticides, can be found at the Wrightstown Farmers Market and the Lower Makefield Farmers Market.

If you’re interested in natural practices and learning about the joys and challenges in starting a small farming operation, put this Summer Farm Evening on your June calendar now.

The evening’s pot luck meal runs from 6:00 to 7:00pm, with the tour to follow. Visitors are expected to bring a dish to share with others and their family’s own eating equipment, beverages and seating, and they should expect to carry out their own trash. Although the farm tours are free, donations to BCFA’s programs are encouraged. This educational and entertaining event is appropriate for school-aged children who are under an adult’s careful supervision.

Promised Land Natural Farm is at 597A Long Acre Lane, Yardley 19067. Any cancellations due to severe weather will be posted here on the BCFA website. For more information: 215.621.8967 or [email protected].
