Bucks County Foodshed Alliance was proud to introduce its Small Farm Grant Program in 2019. In 2019 we were thrilled to granted funds to three small farmers for specific projects which contributed directly to their increased sustainability. Read about them here.
We've just awarded our first 2020 grant to Tybuk Maple Syrup Farm to help them increase their bottling capacity so they can sell more of their awesome syrup at our Doylestown Farmers Market and expand to other outlets.
Dependent on ongoing funds raised, this program will continue to help small farms with small grants to make a big impact. Our organization is keen to return to our roots of helping out small farms directly, in addition to our efforts at education, collaboration, and connection. We are so grateful to the many people who have specifically donated to this program so far. Our major annual fundraiser was canceled this year due to Covid-19, but the need to help our farmers still exists! If you want to help out, click to make donations!
Examples of future possible small grants:
- Funds to participate in the annual PASA (Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture) conference.
- Funds to do small capital improvements, such as creating hoop houses and other season extending improvements, movable chicken houses, or critical equipment.
- Funds to enhance farm promotion, such as bringing website up-to-date, increase social media, etc.
BCFA accepts grant applications as submitted and will award grants on a rolling basis in large part based on funds available. We welcome community participation with donations or through committee involvement.
